エロゲー: ネコっかわいがり!

a.k.a. Neko Kawaigari

Sometimes I just have to wonder: if they're so many people out there who can write good stories, why the hell are they all making eroge? Take out all the stupid R-18 stuff, turn it into a light novel or even a web novel and it'd still be a great read. In fact, that's kinda what the writer(s) of Neko Kawaigari did after the release of the game: write a after-story of sorts and release it as a bonus disc of sorts. A very beautiful after-story, mind you, but nevertheless.

Then again, considering the general success of the eroge industry nowadays, I'll say it's the only sure-fire way to get people to read play their works, rather than the alternative of light novels. Thus is the sad truth of the today.

So anyway, since I'm feeling a little talkative today (oh you know what I mean), here's another plot summaryinfodump of sorts like the last time with Natsuzora Kanata. Coincidentally, Yuzusoft's new game is coming out end of this month but I have NS FUCK.

The story begins in a small veterinary clinic run by Dr Crane. The clinic, surrounded by forests and a large fence bordering the forest, houses herself and 5 patients: the 4 cat-girls Norma, Faye and twins Umi and Nami, along with a dog-man named Jack. According to Dr Crane, she found Jack one day in the forest surrounding the clinic and took him in. Suffering from amnesia, Jack is unable to remember anything at all, including his own name, so Dr Crane named him herself.

The days pass peacefully everyday. Dr Crane performing check ups on the patients everyday, Jack helping out around the clinic with chores everyday, Norma either napping around or reading books all day long, Umi and Nami playing around all day long, and Faye getting toyed around by everyone else all day long. Everyone enjoyed the company of each other, and everyone wished the days would continue peacefully.

The happy prince (True End)

All of a sudden, Nami's condition takes a turn for the worst, and Dr Crane transfers both of the twins to another facility beyond the fences. A few days later, however, Faye and Jack discovers Umi, tied up in a secret room deep within the clinic. A room filled with operating tools and machines. Despite the initial shock at being lied to by Dr Crane, Faye and Jack hurries to release Umi. Suddenly, Umi attacks Faye and is about to bite into her neck when suddenly, Norma appears with a rifle and kills Umi.

Norma and Dr Crane finally reveal the truth about the world: That cat-girls and dog-men are not a natural occurrence in this world. The world was one day struck by a virus named DOTES that slowly killed off various mammals of the world, primarily cats and dogs. Soon after, DOTES mutated and began to infect human beings too, turning them into a hybrid of humans and animals: cat-girls for females, and dog-men for males. The virus will initially rob the infected of their memories first, then eventually their minds, turning into that of a wild animal.

Norma, the resident intellectual, turns out to be Norma Crane, older sister and mentor of Dr Alice Crane, along with being the scientist who first discovered the presence of DOTES. Her mentor was a Professor Asou Seizou, father of the twins Asou Umi and Nami. Asou Seizou passed away one day when their home was attacked by the infected, and the twins, although surviving the ordeal, were also infected. Fortunately, the virus robbed them of their memories too, so they lived on without trauma. Norma takes the twins in, but one day Norma is accidentally infected by one of the twins while taking care of them, and is chased out of her research facility.

Fortunately, she still has friends and supporters from the research facility. Her friends help her to escape to a long-deserted clinic far away along with her research, Alice and the twins. There, they find a girl, Faye McClintock, who has recently lost her family to the virus and who was similarly abandoned at the deserted clinic due to being infected. Surprisingly, Norma discovers that Faye's body holds part of the key to creating a vaccine against the virus, but the operation will kill her. Soon after, her memories are consumed by the virus.

The story returns to the present where Jack decides he would rather not hear about his past from Norma and Alice. Faye, after finding out the truth, decides to go on with the operation for the vaccine, and she passes away. Soon after, Norma is also struck down by the virus, but not before handing a pill to Jack secretly. With Jack and Alice now alone, they continue solemnly with their research on the virus. As Jack's health begins to deteriorate, he decides to take the strange pill from Norma out of desperation, which causes him to fall into a coma and jolts his memories.

He was Iseya Yuusaku, assistant to Norma Crane prior to Alice. Yuusaku and Alice eventually got into a relationship and kept a dog named Jack. Soon after though, the virus occurs and kills Jack. Subsequently, Yuusaku himself is also infected, and it is through this that he discovers that his body contains the second half of the key to the vaccine, and that he once volunteered to sacrifice himself to create the vaccine, but Alice objected. With the virus consuming his memories, Alice then decides to hide this truth from him to save him.

Back in the present, Yuusaku shares a tearful reunion with Alice, but their reunion is cut short as Yuusaku is reaching his end. He finally convinces Alice to perform the operation on him to complete the vaccine to save the world, and with this Alice is now all alone. She takes the completed vaccine and leaves the clinic, out the fences and into the now-desolate world...

WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD (After Story)

The story skips ahead. No sooner had Alice reached Norma's former research facility to administer Nami with the vaccine than the research facility came under attack by am armed group hired by a pharmacy, Major, who seek to hold a monopoly over the vaccine to control the world. Alice escapes with the vaccine and Nami at the cost of the lives of the supporters of Norma and goes into hiding. It is soon discovered that the vaccine caused Nami to become pregnant with Yuusaku's child, a fact which causes Alice further sorrow. Still, she persists to care for Nami, and continues to escape her pursuers. Eventually the pursuers catch up to them, kidnap Nami, and shoot Alice in her shoulder, leaving her to bleed to death.

Alice then loses all hope for survival due to everyone she ever loved having left her, her misery at having lost Yuusaku again, and her jealousy towards Nami for carrying Yuusaku's child. She then suddenly remembers the various promises she made to everyone to not give up and to save the world for them, and finds enough strength to get up and attempt to take back Nami. The attempt fails however, and just as she is about to be shot in the head by the kidnappers, a pack of infected, having already succumbed to the virus and turned into wild animals, attack and kill all the kidnappers. Fortunately, the infected do not touch Nami nor Alice as they recognize Nami as one of them, and Alice thanks the heavens for this miracle...

Time skips ahead, and Alice is finally reunited with Yuusaku, happy that she has fulfilled her promise to everyone at the clinic, as she looks down upon the earth, at a grown-up Nami and her child.

-the end-

As a side note, the full term for the virus, DOTES, is Deaden of Originalty and Talent for Earthling Syndrome.

What? Just listen to the theme songs of this game, and tell me if this is normal for the writers.

The original Japanese term provided translates roughly to "loss of racial originality and intelligence syndrome". tl;dr people become wild animals. There, so much easier to understand now.

Also, between the memory loss and final mutation, apparently the infected will go into heat. A lot. Thank god for the skip button.

Overall though, it's still a nice and touching story. Apparently, the story is based on the short story "The Happy Prince", and references it a lot. For example, in the final scene of the True End, Jack calls Dr Crane the swallow and himself the Happy Prince. Tee underscore tee.

What I like about the game, however, is how they advertise it as a cute girls game (the title translates loosely to "dote up a cat" anyway). And yet one of the cat-girls actually gets killed in cold blood, and only one of the 4 survive ultimately.

Either way, touching ending song. I like to think of it as Dr Crane singing it for more touching points.

翻訳: とっぴんぱらりのぷう

とっぴんぱらりのぷう (The End) by Marica - Lyrics

The winds drift, gently, blowing away
The waters flow, silently, glittering

On this hill, where the greenery smiles
The memories we share are still...

The words written on the ground (My feelings for you)
Are but a fleeting dream now (Just blurred words)
The sounds of kingfishers can be heard (The kingfishers are crying)
The fragrance of the trees still linger (slowly dissipating)

The trees rustle, noisily, as usual
The flowers flutter, lightly, floating in the winds

Back when we were young and innocent
We used to hold hands together

A wish wavering in the sunset (My promise to you)
Even if it should disappear tomorrow (A little wish)
The sound of crows can be heard (The crows are crying)
A light shadow still connects (slowly fading)

I sing a song to the skies (From me to you)
Take away my tears of yesterday (Clear blue skies)
The echos of the forest can be heard (Midori is smiling)
Our lives shining brilliantly (the dream fades...)

Some notes:
  • the title of the song is a common way in Japanese to end a story, similar to how we often get "昔々…" ("a long long time ago...") and the likes at the start of an anime. In this case it has an connotation of "thank you for listening till the end of this story". But "the end" sums it up as well, so yeah. (source)
  • the Japanese word for "greenery" (para 2, line 1) is "midori" or "緑". However, Midori (para 7, line 3, "ミドリ") is also the name of one of the main characters, and also likely the character this song is based on, as most of the lines seem to pertain to her role in the story. Plus, this is the ED2 theme, for her path only. Every other heroine gets the same, less impressive ED1 theme.
  • the "crying" (para 3 & 6, lines 3 both) is not true tears crying (lol), but rather the sound the animals make, like how each Pokemon has a unique cry. Of course, we only learnt animal sounds back in kindergarten so the specific sound words can go screw each other.

This song, along with a beautiful BGM remix, are both in the imeem playlist now. Seriously, this game is so touching, even the BGMs make me tear now. Everytime I sing along to this song I tear up. It's like, the tear-tear-teary theme song of a tear-tear-teary game with a tear-tear-teary story. Once you get past the initial cutesy-idioty OP song and the cutesy-idioty characters anyway. Especially Chizumi. She kills by either moe, over-laughter or over-crying.

Then again, it's not like I have more than 2 of my audience who can actually play this game. Ahhh, I need more like-minded acquaintances who aren't also sickeningly cutesy-gross Singaporean otakus. My palm starts to love my face everytime I read a forum post or a comment post from one of these idiots. Helloooo? It's a English-speaking country here? You only write Japanese (romaji) if you're talking about a series title, character name, or a term of which translation you're unsure of or there's no official translation of yet (Pokemon has a shitload of terms that already have an official translation, yet some idiots still don't know). "Kawaii" is "cute", "sugoi" is "very", and a "baka" is you.

Also, on the subject of Pokemon, I'm now also playing Pokemon Ranger 2 alongside Pokemon Platinum. Man this is just like back then when I suddenly got all obsessed with Digimon again and started playing Digimon World: Dusk while obsessing over Antylamon and Minervamon. Except Pokemon has no human-like (not humanoid. human-like) creatures while Digimon practically has Matrix Evolution (Sakuyamon) and Spirit Evolution (Zephyrmon), so the former's more for furries while the latter's kinda hot. And yes, I am a pervert <3

Miyoshi Yuiko

4th December. Asakura Souta arrives at Tougen Island, as he has been doing every year. Every year, he comes to Tougen Island during his holidays to visit and have fun with his friend Rokkaku Gorou and cousins Miyoshi Yuiko and Futaba, as well as to help out at his aunt's pension for some extra pocket money. This year was to be the same as every other year.

However, due to a little misunderstanding, Yuiko accidentally confesses her feelings for him ever since they were kids. Amidst the misunderstanding, Souta finds that he has feelings for Yuiko too, and finally they confess to each other again and become a couple.

The happy days were not to last though, as Yuiko eventually digs up an artifact of their childhood days: a simple card game they were addicted to back then that Souta and Gorou appear to fear. A chance run in with a group of three trouble-making tourists reveals Yuiko's forgotten past: 8 years ago when they were kids Souta, Gorou and Yuiko were assaulted by a similar group of three tourists looking for sexual entertainment. As Souta and Gorou were beaten up by the tourists, and Yuiko about to be raped, a giant spider surfaces from the woods and captures the three tourists, dragging them deep into the woods. Yuiko soon suffers a slight trauma resulting from the assult, but Souta and Gorou both remember the creature: it resembles Yuiko's favorite card from the card game they used to play often as kids, the powerful "8-legged Darkness", with the effect of "removing up to 3 targets from the playing field every turn".

It is later reported that the three trouble-making tourists they ran into earlier have turned up missing too. Subsequently, they are confronted by a woman, Niki Yuubari, who reveals she is of the secret service and knows of the incident 8 years ago, as well as confirming the suspicions of Souta and Gorou: the giant spider was indeed created by Yuiko as a result of the Island's System granting her wish for "someone to protect her" back then. Faced with these facts, as well as Yuiko's resurfacing memories, Souta and Gorou are forced to spill the beans on what they know to Yuiko.

The friends, along with the help of Niki, decide to take down and stop the giant spider once and for all. Niki comes up with a theory that if the giant spider was from the card game, the creature should bend to the rules of the card game as well. True enough, as the four draw out the giant spider and begin a round of the card game, the giant spider stands still, awaiting Yuiko's turn. Souta and Gorou utilize the tricks they often used in their childhood to cheat and attempt to draw a card, the "Silver Slingshot", able to "instantly kill any bug type creatures". As the giant spider slowly takes down Gorou and Niki, Souta remembers the "8-legged Darkness"'s final effect: "after removing its 9th target, it will be destroyed along with its summoner". Souta manages to acquire the "Silver Slingshot" at the last moment and destroy the giant spider before it can claim its final victim and Yuiko.

However, this sends Yuiko into a coma, as she continues to have nightmares while in her coma of the day 8 years ago. In a final act of desperation, Souta, remembering the story Niki told them about the System, makes a wish to be strong enough to protect Yuiko again. This throws him into her nightmare, as he summons enough courage in himself to stand up to their attackers and rescue Yuiko from her nightmare. As Souta awakens from the dream, he finds Yuiko awake from her coma in tears, thanking Souta for coming to save her.

Forward a few years, Souta has graduated from school and has permanently taken over his aunt's pension business together with Yuiko, as they live happily ever after, surrounded by his friends and his love...

My favorite route as it starts off nicely, pulls off the "always loved you but never had the courage to confess" scene beautifully, has plenty of good friendship and fun playtime scenes, culminates in an awesome boss fight that reminds me of E×E's combat scenes, and then ends without throwing away everyone but the girl. Every other path, it's like the world has ended and they're the only ones left dammit.

Or maybe it's just because I like friendship stories over love stories. I cried the most on the Little Busters path in Little Busters! anyway; even more so than how much I cried for the other 5 girls' paths put together.

エロゲー: 夏空カナタ ―沙々羅―

Big white patch of nothingness, Round 2!

Shichijou Sasara

At the local festival Asakura Souta meets a young girl named Shichijou Sasara, who appears to not know money is required to buy food. After getting hooked into paying for her, he finds that she has been in a "hospital" all her life and so lacks basic knowledge about the world around her. Thus begins their friendship as he continues to teach her more about the world around her. Around this time, he chances upon a cave deep in the woods and is acquainted with Kyougoku Fumio, the blind and frail priestess of the local shrine, and Ashikaga Sadamichi, Fumio's guardian as well as an agent of the secret service who has a crush on Fumio. Further conversation with all three parties reveal that Fumio is actually Sasara's mother. However, Fumio has avoided Sasara ever since she was young, leading Sasara to hate her own mother.

By a chance accident brought about by a sudden earthquake, Souta is seriously injured and on the brink of death. Ashikaga then brings both Souta and Sasara to the cave deep in the woods, where Sasara recognizes Fumio to be her mother. Fumio then gets Sasara to strongly wish for Souta to be healed, activating a wish-granting System of the Island and completely removing Souta's fatal wounds.

Having delved too deep into the secrets of the Island now, Ashikaga and Fumio then reveals the truth being the island of everlasting summer Tougen Island: the Island itself came into existence thanks to this System, and is the main sustaining force behind the entire Island. Should it fail, the entire Island will go down with it. Furthermore, only a select bloodline of people can act as the sustainer of the System, this being Kyougoku Fumio. However, sustaining the System has lead to her failing health, as evidenced by her now completely gone eyesight and her repeated coughing of blood. The next in line to be the sustainer would have been Sasara had Fumio not insisted to Sasara's father, Shichijou Katsumi, on leaving Sasara alone. It is because of this and her failing health that she has hidden herself from Sasara all these years. Despite all this, Katsumi continues to attempt to keep Sasara secluded from the world: it is hinted that the "hospital" Sasara has lived at her entire childhood is merely her own room.

As Fumio nears her end and Katsumi grows more impatient and overbearing, she and Ashikaga decide to have Sasara escape the Island with Souta before Katsumi makes Sasara the new sustainer. Determined to reconcile the relationship between mother and daughter before the escape though, Souta goes to various lengths to have mother and daughter convey their feelings for each other, culminating in a festival built entirely for them to have fun and remember the good old times again. Against Sasara's wishes for her mother to "stay by her side from now on to make up for everything" however, Fumio could only whisper to herself "I'm sorry".

After having successfully evacuated the entire Island (under the cover story of a imminent underwater volcano eruption) soon after, Souta and Sasara prepares to leave the Island, only to be stopped in their tracks by a deranged Katsumi, who shoots at Ashikaga and decides to have Sasara stay behind after all. It takes the combined efforts of Fumio, a critically injured Ashikaga and Souta to knock Katsumi out. However, in the struggle Fumio is left on the last leg of her life, leading her and Ashikaga to have Souta drag Sasara away and escape the Island on the last boat as they attempt to sustain the Island long enough for everyone to get away, revealing that Fumio never intended to leave the Island with Sasara.

As the Island crumbles, radios in the proximity pick up a signal generated by Fumio's last wishes to the System: a infinitely looping message of Fumio's finally words to Sasara. "I hope you will be able to walk a path of happiness from now on. Farewell, my dear Sasara."

END 1
A few days after the Island collapses, most of its people have now built a temporary settlement in a nearby island while awaiting notice of their relocation. Souta receives a call from a fellow agent friend of Ashikaga who is helping Sasara to settle into a new life away from Katsumi. The agent tells Souta to pass a message to Sasara: that she will now have a new birth certificate created for her, so she can choose to change her name if she desires to. Sasara decides immediately with a bright smile that her new name will be Kyougoku Sasara...

END 2
A year after the collapse of the Island, Souta and Sasara revisit the site of the Island to pay their respects to Ashikaga and Fumio, as well as to show that they have led a happy life since then with the introduction of their daughter, Shiono...

Oh god I was crying all the way while typing up the third last paragraph. Family love endings are beginning to jerk my tears ever since CLANNAD.

Just so I can induce some squick into the hearts of the non-eroge playing readers, the difference that decides which END you get is by one simple decision: whether Souta shoots his load onto Sasara or into Sasara. Ha ha ha.

エロゲー: 夏空カナタ ―茅羽耶―

Finished NatsuKana today, so I thought I'd make a post to write down some story summaries. No, not a review. This is more like a notebook thing to remind myself of the story.
I'm a nut at reviewing stuff anyway. All I can ever say is "ehh it's fun" or "eww get that away from me" anyway.

Obviously, spoilers galore, so highlight for em.

Kousaka Chihaya

7th December. Asakura Souta meets a girl, Kousaka Chihaya, who is planning for her father's birthday 3 days later. He helps her come up with ideas for a present, and finally on the third day as the present is ready, both realize that they have a crush on each other, and share a kiss under the sunset.

10th December. Souta runs into Chihaya and finds that she brushes him off for being too friendly to "someone she's just met for the first time". Her father, aware of his actions the last 3 days, approaches him and reveals the reasoning behind her behavior: ever since an accident where Chihaya fell off a cliff and nearly drowned, she has been afflicted with anterograde amnesia and is only able to remember new facts up to 3 days before her memory reverts to the morning of the accident. Since then, she has been repeating the 3 days of preparations leading up to her father's birthday as, in her father's words, "it's better to see her happily preparing for his birthday than to see her in despair from learning about her own condition". Despite cautioning from Chihaya's father to not involve himself with her any further, Souta decides to overcome this despair and continue trying to befriend her, essentially repeating her actions from his first 3 days with her.

13th December. After successfully reenacting their "first meeting" again, she accidentally overhears the locals's conversation about the date, leading Souta to his first experience of having to break the truth to her, as well as her wish to have Souta stop trying to befriend her as she does not wish to hurt him anymore. Despite her pleas, Souta successfully convinces Chihaya to try to overcome her amnesia as his first attempt is put into action: filming a video message to herself and recording her memories in her diary in order to try to break her amnesia.

16th December. The video message is shown to Chihaya after her expected memory wipe, and along with the encouragement of everyone Chihaya decides to face her condition head on, culminating in her deciding to get a haircut from Souta. The 3 days end however with Chihaya's father delivering a cryptic message to Souta: come early tomorrow and be prepared.

19th December. Souta visits the Kousaka residence and finds that Chihaya has once again lost her memories, along with her new haircut. Her father finally breaks the truth to Souta: her memories weren't the only thing reverting every 3 days. Whatever major accidents or physical changes she experiences during the 3 days, be it a major cut or a hair cut, would disappear along with her memories, leading her father to deduce that she wasn't simply unable to retain her memories; she reverts to a state where she haven't even experienced those memories. Despite these new revelations, a change suddenly occurs in Chihaya: she suffers a serious fever and begins to remember pieces of events that she had already "forgotten".

22th December. Chihaya's amnesia is gone and she has completely recovered her memories previously lost to the amnesia. However, her physical condition continues to worsen, culminating in herself beginning to "fade out" from time to time. At this point, two minor characters, Niki Yuubari and Ashikaga Sadamichi, who have continued to discreetly discourage Souta from continuing with his affairs with Chihaya reveal their true identities as secret service agents charged with keeping the secrets of the Island under wraps. They finally expose the final mystery behind Chihaya's mysterious condition to Souta: she had passed away because of the accident, but the wishes of her parents activated Tougen Island's mysterious wish granting System and caused the System to absorb her into itself, allowing it to bring Chihaya back as a phantom. However, the System is unable to retain the form of a human being for long, so it has to revert Chihaya's form every 3 days to allow her to sustain her form.

Unfortunately, to sustain the System a person acting as a sustainer is required. The current sustainer, Kyougoku Fumio, has however reached her limit, as evidenced by her blindness and failing health. This causes errors such as the increasing happenings of earthquakes around the Island and, more importantly, the System's inability to continue to revert Chihaya's form, thereby overloading and causing her failing health.

END 1
Soon enough, Chihaya completely fades away from existence. As a last ditch attempt, Fumio, touched by the love between the couple as well as feeling partly responsible for being unable to sustain the System, uses most of the last ounces of her remaining life to perform the System's secondary function: create a new sustainer. A function previously thought impossible to perform anymore due to the loss of ancient documentation stating how to "feed vital information" about the new sustainer to the System, Fumio realizes that when the System absorbed Chihaya, it might now have enough information to recreate her as a sustainer instead of reviving her again. Sure enough, the rescue attempt works, bringing her back as a sustainer.

However, Chihaya and Souta are now faced with another critical decision: with a new sustainer born, the secret service will not hesitate to arrest her as a replacement for Fumio. Despite Fumio's attempts to persuade the couple to escape the Island, Chihaya and Souta decide on saving Fumio this time instead, and Chihaya chooses to replace Fumio as the new sustainer.

Cut to two years later, Souta has permanently moved to the Island and has secured a living there while continuing to visit Chihaya every night. It is shown that Chihaya is beginning to show similar symptoms as Fumio, indicating that she will eventually end up like Fumio...

END 2
Soon enough, Chihaya completely fades away from existence. At this point, Souta's strong wish for them to have met earlier once again triggers the System, sending him back to the 10th of August: the day of the accident. Due to the System faults though, his existence in this past is nearing fading, as was Chihaya nearing her end. This results in him failing to prevent the accident from taking place in time. However, he succeeds in rescuing her from drowning instead, right before he fades away from the past.

4th December. It is Souta's first day at the Island. As his friends come to pick him up, he runs into a girl who appears to know Souta, and who claims Souta had saved her from drowning a few months back...

My MSN personal message right now is "Magical Good Ends ruin all the drama :/". It's not that I don't like seeing the guy and girl get together safely again, but it'd actually be nice if they could just forgo the stupid magics and just do a realistic ending like say, 50 First Dates?

Oh wait, this is Anime Land. Kanon, Da Capo, so on and so forth. No wonder there's always magic.

(oh wow, this time it's a dude on the preview shot. what's this, balance of moe power?)

The island of eternal summer, Tougen Island

Sasara: "...I can't eat this if I have no money?"

A girl he meets at the festival---

Sasara: "I'm telling the truth."
Sasara: "I spend most of my time in this "hospital" place."

Sasara: "Oh, I see~"
Sasara: " So this is what friends are..."

Suddenly, the girl visits the pension he lives at

Sasara: "I want to have Souta's children!"

His life with her begins---

Yuiko: "OBJECTION!!"

Sasara: "Ah, Souta. Washing machines sure do resemble crabs, don't they~~?"
Sasara: "It's rather interesting~"

Sasara: "That aside, first dates are very important."
Sasara: "It's like an event. An once-in-a-lifetime event."

The fate she bears tears them apart---

Katsumi: "Sasara has been imposing on you for a long time."
Katsumi: "I shall take her home."

Sadamichi: "You. Don't ever come here again."

Sasara: "...That can't be the best."
Sasara: "I'll never accept that as the best solution."

Fate forces the two into a final decision.

Sasara: "Souta... Is the world Souta talked about beyond this ocean?"
Sasara: "A world that I do not know of..."

And there. Final Natsukana preview CM movie done. Kudos to Juan for the translation (and no, i'm not talking about give you Kudryavkas <_<).

Sooo yeah. So far, all the paths look awesome. I was thinking of starting off with Yuiko's path first because she was my favorite character upon first impression, but now every one of their stories piques my otaku senses. Not to mention this is Yuzusoft, the brains behind one of my favorite eroges ExE, along with being the home of the double-team head artists of much win. If anything, Yuzusoft wins firstly for their art and character designs, followed secondly by all the slice-of-life style of comedy scattered among the story.

Also1, Shimotsuki Haruka's songs are the best.
Also2, Tamiyasu Tomoe, of Natsume Rin (Little Busters!) fame, voicing Yuiko's imouto for the win.

Also, this time I'm actually listening to an mp3, not playing a video in the background while listening. Hurray for audio extractors.

Gorou: "You fell for Yuiko, didn't cha? Put more faith in her then!"

Yuiko: "I kept telling myself the same thing every year. 'I'll confess to him this year.' "
Yuiko: "But every year, I couldn't do it."

And when their feelings finally reach each other

Yuiko: "It's that game we used to be so obsessed with when we were kids."

The hidden memories resurface

Yuubari: "For instance, that incident 8 years ago."
Yuubari: "...among others."

Yuiko: "Why didn't you tell me then!?"

The two stand up against the past

Yuiko: "...I don't really know."
Yuiko: "Before I knew it, I'm already in love."
Yuiko: "All this time..."
Yuiko: "Ever since we were both kids."

And following our absentminded (sorta) main heroine, we next have the standard issue loli cum childhood friend cum cousin. 3 in 1 for 3 times the goodness! (doesn't really help that Yuiko's surname is Miyoshi or 三好)

Sadly, they don't give much details about what actually happened in their past except that there's this card game involved, unlike with Chihaya's scenario. And I really can't link up to how a game popular in their childhood can result in unhappy memories. Someone lost a major game, went emo and became an hero?

In other more unrelated news, Otaku's Daughter is still awesome and going strong. Can't wait for the fourth volume that should be coming out sometime next month. Also, first chapter of volume four is a Haruka chapter so woot Harurun~

In more somehow-related-yet-not-so-related-after-all news, there are freakin too many new series this season. Not to mention quite a handful being rather awesome, and more than 75% rather good. Noteworthy ones being United States of Japan R2 (Za Warudo lol), Princess Murasaki, Ludicrously Dysfunctional Family Diary and the girly guy + 3 ninjas show.

-Chihaya-

上坂 茅羽耶 //Kousaka Chihaya
The island of eternal summer, Tougen Island

Chihaya: "I'm so sorry."
Chihaya: "Ah, if you don't mind you can sit here."

A boy meets a girl

Chihaya: "That may be so."
Chihaya: "Still, it doesn't change the fact that Asakura-san is a kind person."

As the two begin to fall for each other

Chihaya: "...I'm glad it's evening now."
Chihaya: "My face is probably turning very red right now."

The days of happiness were to continue, but...

Chihaya: "I'm sorry. I don't like skirt-chasers like you."
Chihaya: "I'm leaving now, so please excuse me."

Her secret is revealed

Akihiko: "In her case, it's a memory disorder."
Akihiko: "She cannot remember anything beyond 3 days."

Chihaya: "Everytime I forget, I hurt the people around me."
Chihaya: "Asakura-san too. Because I forget you every 3 days..."

The two stand up against destiny

Chihaya: "So please. Remember everything."
Chihaya: "...it feels weird for me to be making a request to myself, but please..."
Chihaya: "You have to remember."

Chihaya: "To be honest, I was really happy."
Chihaya: "But I can't say it yet."
Chihaya: "It's for when I can remember everything again."

I'm a sucker for love stories involving anterograde amnesia. Stuff like 50 First Dates and ef -a tale of memories-, except one's a full-on comedy, and the other rather emo and "deep". Which is probably why I'm looking forward to this eroge by YuzuSoft. Also not forgetting their beautiful track record of awesome games ever since they started.

On an unrelated note, moving your mouse over the banners on the sidebar brings up some sort of page preview and related search suggestions. Is it me, or are they trying to bring up a point with "STD" related to 3 of the banners <_<;;
